Default Irish Creedmore Marksmen Did Not Swab

Read an interesting article in the current Rifleman magazine. At the first Creedmore match the Irish team did not swab the bores of their Rigby muzzleloaders barrels during the entire match. The US team swabbed their breechloaders after every shot. The Irish used Curtis and Harvey No. 6 powder.

The US won the match 934-931. A week later the Irish won the NRA match by six points. Then the Irish challenged the Americans to a match where neither team swabbed their barrels for the entire match. The Irish won 320-201.

Neither do most white shooters, as in White rifles not white boys

The Whitworth had the hex groove barrel as I remember. I just looked up the Creedmore. And Pedersoli mold states it shot a 500 grain .451 conical bullet, with 65 grains of FFF powder. They have a 1-21 twist. I find that very interesting as it is basically the same caliber and twist as my White Model 97 .451. And I shoot a .460 grain conical with 65 grains of Triple Seven powder.
