I appreciate all the feedback to my original post. Due to my previous experience and hunting success w/ the Hornady XTP .430 bullets in both 240 gr. and 300 gr., a substantial stash of both bullets and green sabots, I decided to start evaluating the BH 209 w/ these bullets and sabots. Per the suggestions, I super-polished the bore of my Omega w/ J-B bore cleaning compound and cleaned the gun thoroughly. I pre-weighed @ 25 BH 209 loads of 63 gr., 70 gr., and 77 gr.. At the range, I decided to initially evaluate the 70 gr. by weight w/ a 300 gr. XTP bullet and green sabot and a CCI
209M primer. This was as far as I got with my evaluation. After only 4 shots and two scope adjustments, I moved the target to a lazered 100 yards. With only 2 shots and one scope adjustment, I was able to produce a 1" group, 2 inches high/dead center. Clean-up of the gun was almost too easy. The new Redfield 2x7x 33mm variable scope is a real winner. I have subsequently shot the gun at 150 yards (1/2" low/dead center) and at 100 yards (2 inches high/dead center) transitioning the scope from low to high magnification. The XTP .430 and green sabots load easily even after 10 shots and I've seen no noticible change in POI from the first to last shot. In Tennessee our muzzleloading season begins on Sat., 11/03, and I have full confidence in my "new" Omega.
