Default Successful QLA removal

After reading Semisan's post regarding Barrel shortening and ronlaughlin's successful accuracy improvement, I took on the project of removing the QLA from my Triumph.

I can report a huge improvement in accuracy with the 350gr FPB's (1.5" groups). With the QLA the Fpb's were very inconsistent, with 5" groups the norm.

Haven't tried sabot loads.

Question, after removing the QLA has anyone blued the muzzle?

Not the best pics. Just of the end result.

I did leave a small amount of the QLA as my "crown". Around 3/32 to 1/8".

The pre-sized FPB's are easily aligned with the rifling.

Very good! And some say no such problem exists!

Most times if the QLA is not concentric to the bore conicals won't shoot to great. I have not heard or seen a cupped bullet like the FPB or thor not shoot good groups from a TC with QLA.Others conicals sometimes key hole but the cupped bullets or skirt ones seem to shoot good most of the time.

Glad the removal worked out good for you with the FPB . I have shot a few deer with the 350 gr and all were dead deer down.

Nice job johnnyo, now if someone could get tc to understand there is no good reason for the qla........

QLA is not the problem. Making it straight seems to be TC's problem.

I do plan to.

What type of metal finish did you end up with?
