New Omega: Scope question???

Hi...I just got a couple brand new guns including a T/C Omega in camo/stainless.

Here is my question...the dealer said that a Bushnell Trophy in 1.75-4 x 32 would be a great scope for this gun....is it? I wonder now because he also said it' s a 100 yard gun. Am I under-powered in the optics or just right?

I would return that scope and get the Leupold VXII 2x7,have one on my Omega with stainless barrel, you can definetly use the extra magnification and Bushnell scopes are a problem waiting to happen. You can pay now or you can pay later!I' m speaking from experience had Bushnells leak nitrogen and have had the internals fail to hold zero.Good Luck your going to love your Omega;)

The Max. on medium or large game with 150 gr. charge would be 200 yds. I am saving up for a 3-9X40 Conquest for my .50 cal./.54 cal. T/C System 1. Good luck.

I have a T/C hawken hunter 3-9x44 on my .50 cal Omega, its a great scope suppose to be recoil proof for magnum loads.

Kubota why get one thats " just enough" ? I would' nt put a 1xWhatever on anything but a turkey gun. The Omega is a 250yd gun and dont let anyone tell you its not. Loaded with 180 or 200grn RedHots (Barnes) and ahead of 150grains of pellets, that 28" barrel will " reach out and touch em" its up to you.

My personal minimum for the Omega would be 3x9. Personally, my next smokepole will be a 45cal Omega and it will wear a 3 or 4x12 of some variant. You got the gun for " out there" why not put a scope on it for same?

Whack em where they stand!

Don' t be startled by that 250 number.... it' s just a number. It takes perfect terrain -- perfect rifle -- perfect shooter -- perfect weather to one-shot kill a deer at 250 yards with one of these new high-tech LR/XR rifles.

An average modern muzzleloading projectile will fly 500 yards... it' s just a number.

If I bring poster RedAllison to where I hunt & he sees a deer 250 yards away every day in the same exact spot, he will need a week to practice to shoot it dead because of varying weather/wind/terrain slope.

If you hunt in the exact same spot all the time & shoot at the same bean field all the time, you will eventually get good at it.

I hunt a different spot every day or two.... Red Allison couldn' t do 250 yard shots hunting with me in Michigan.
