Default Doin some shooting today

Here are my results from this mornings shoot between the rain and thunder showers.

Probably should have stopped after the first target.

In order they were shot,

Thanks Dave,

I wish I could figure out how I shot the first target again. The last target would have been good 4 inches to the left though.

Not bad, but didn't you have anything to rest your rifle on? It's a rare day that I will ever take an off hand shot at a deer so I pretty much never practice doing it. If I do take an off hand shot it's because I just happened to walk up on an unsuspecting deer by chance. Even then I will make an effort to get to a tree that I can use for a rest. Most of the time I am hunting from a sitting position in a tree or on the ground by a tree that I will often use as a rest.

That is one reason for the walking stick I use. If I hold near the top and kneel, its a perfect shooting height for me. I can throw the rifle over my arm and shoot that way. And like Pluckit, I have shooting sticks in the blinds, or I am a tree leaning person. But shooting off hand is still good practice and a lot of fun. Also a good lesson in humility for me.

I have been doing a lot of off hand shooting with my .22 rifle. It should be helping me to get that shot off. With the .22 it does not seem so bad.

About the only time I shoot offhand at game is when I'm dogging. Other than that I always use a rest of some sort if at all possible.

I don't eat targets so it's fun to try and kill em offhand.
