The drawing resulted in my obtaining a regular rifle season antler less whitetail tag for the Northern Black Hills. Using a model 94 occurred to me, but i kinda leaned toward using the X7 without the QLA. This morning we headed out to shoot 2 different rifles. The X7 was tried at 200 yard using 300g Deep Curl, 110g BH, crush rib sabot, W209 primer.

First shot was from a cold clean barrel. It was cool at 4700'. It was 45* at 4700', and the first thing i did setting out the target was get wet feet. Two shot were taken, then i switched rifles. After a long while getting the other rifle on paper, the third shot was taken with the X7. A decision was made to use this X7 for to hunt the hills rifle season.
This rifle uses a breech plug modified last summer to cope with a flame cut primer seat, primers leaking between the anvil, and the cup, and an enlarged flash hole.

The collar seems to bring more support to the primer, and they don't leak so much any more. The primer seat depth was drilled so the metric o-ring could be utilized under a W209 primer. The powder end was counter sunk and tapped to receive a vent liner with the head turned down to 5/16".
In between shooting the X7, a Triumph was fired at 25 yard, 100 yard, and 200 yard. Results weren't as good as hoped for, but it was only a 1X scope. Then i realized i had sized the Triumph breech plug for STS primer, and the W209 being used, were too long for a comfortable fit. Tomorrow, maybe we will give the STS primer a try, and see if the rifle shoots better. It may be, the load will need changing.
For fun, a shot was taken using the Triumph with the 1X scope from 120 yard, at a water filled box. I get such a kick out of them geyser from them cereal box. Then the clean-up is so easy, because the box just lays down right there.

Ron, I see you shoot a lot out of your truck. Isn't it a pain to load after each shot?
I do believe the X7 will work. But I think you need to aqdvance 1 or two less clicks to center your group. Wouldn't you agree? Excellent shooting otherwise.

Too risky! There are a jillion things that could go wrong attempting the sneak on that deer, and only one thing that could go right. Knowing the range, wind, and a solid rest, makes the 200 yard shot, the best chance for success.
Had i not seen that deer, i would have still hunted around the park, near the edge of the timber.

You have noticed another advantage of the X7. It not only is easier to carry a long ways, and through thick timber, it is also easy to load inside the cabin of the truck there. The only time it is difficult to load the X7 is when lying on one's back. I did manage to accomplish that once.
Have a great season!

Dave, i can't get enough of that dang geyser. Sometimes i wish i could get wife to come with, and have her shoot whilst i watch the box explode, and see the water fly high into the air.
