Skin, quarter, and haul out the pieces sounds better. (sort of)

You got that right. If I had to drag a deer or bear 2 miles it better be all down hill or I'm gonna eat the darn thing right there.

Well the pride set in and I told him "lets arm wrestle" ok the drinks helped. I thought I was in for a fight but won no problem. Then the rest of the 20-25 year old guys wanted in, I beat everyone of them, there girlfiends were'nt happy but I was. My Daughter even videoed it and put it on Facebook.
I refuse to let age get to me, mabey someday and Im sure it will, but a season or so ago I shot 2 big does, 121 and 126lbs and I dragged both out on the snow with my MLer 2 miles to my truck.
The best part was when I got to my truck my buddy called me on my cell and said you want us to come help drag them out??? I told him I was already at my truck with both of them in the bed.

I felt the same way at 50, but 20 more years convinced me i'm old. :(

A two-mile drag? A two-mile drag? Dang Breechplug, you're insane.

I'm with Bronko. If I had to drag a deer two miles I'd just set up camp and start eating.

I would just go get my deer cart.

Would you please stop posting those beautiful pictures of Colorado? It's making me very depressed down here! Most things look a bit burnt and crispy around here. Oh, and stop talking about how cool the mornings are there. It starts in the high 70's to low 80's around here!

It's not a long drive to here. ;)

Muley,

Looks beautiful. What part of CO were these pictures taken? General area is fine, I'm not looking for your secret spots.

Muley Hunter 08-04-2012 09:07 AM

I only hunt the unit I live in. (481) These pictures are at about 11,300ft. I have a lot more if you guys want to see them.

Except the dark timber picture. That's just 10minutes away from where I live at 8300ft.

Muley and Mountain Devil, show more Colorado Mountain pics.

It's 109F here today headed for about 111. On Wed, Thur and Fri it hit 113F. There are 2" wide cracks in the lawn. Most of the ponds are bone dry. Saw a farmer discing a field today; the 25mph wind was blowing his soil away.

Here's something to cool you off.

My dog Buddy.

MountainDevil54 08-04-2012 04:01 PM

Got all my hunting gear, including the wolf, loaded into the back pack, loaded up the pack with water and took a nice hike up into an area just at the end of the valley by home. Its some nasty stuff and i walked the side of the mountain to get a work out. Fatty here went with me as well. Hes dropping some pounds by being on a diet and he doesnt like it one bit. Just a couple pictures. To thick to really take pictures of anything. Scouted for deer drops but nuttin! Found some old bones and then ran across a steep deer trail with a trees rubbed down to the point they were dead. There is something up there!

Our lovely area to walk through.

Our lovely area to walk through.
That's what we call "open woods".

Try creeping through this.

bronko22000 08-04-2012 04:22 PM

That's some pretty thick stuff ther MD. Not like the park Muley was walking in. But both beautiful in their own way.
I just got back from my walk. Really noticing the difference. I cover the measured 2 miles in just under 31 mins. I was able to jog for 1/4 mile of the 2 miles. My calculations show that my average speed was 3.9 mph. At this rate I should be able to jog at least 1/2 the distance by the end of Sept. Or increase the distance walked or both. Also, I got on the scale this morning and I dropped a total of 5 lbs. Would like to lose 20 more at least. Thirty would even be better.

bronko22000 08-04-2012 04:25 PM

Semi, that's why you wimpy southern boys plant food plots. You're too soft to enter the woods. So what if everything in there will stick, scratch, bite, or eat you!

Muley Hunter 08-04-2012 04:28 PM

No reason to complain about where you live. It's your choice. :p

Semisane 08-04-2012 04:43 PM

Ain't complaining y'all. I've lived other places, but had to return to the New Orleans area to replenish the mud between my toes. Salt marsh, bayous, cypress swamps, and pine woods are in my blood.

As for wimpy Bronko. Come on down and let me take you for a hunt in the Honey Island Swamp. I'll show ya' wimpy. Bring along some riding gear and a 12 Gauge and we'll saddle up a big ol' hog and wingshoot some skeeters. :s2:

MountainDevil54 08-04-2012 05:05 PM

that was actually the cleaner part LOL. We had to go down the mountain towards the end due to all the thick oak brush and boulders. Its a pretty steep hike. Felt good though, may take a drive to the wildlife center tomorrow for some longer hikes.

I've been asking for years for an invite to come down there and hunt with you. I'd be glad to come on down and be treated to some souhern hospitality. (also some shrimp, cornbread and crawdads and some pecan pie for dessert.) But I don't know if LA can handle having both of us together. I'm sure we would have a blast. (BTW you sure a 12 ga is enough for those skeeters? Ya think maybe a 10 ga or 40 mm gernades might be better?)

MattFR 08-05-2012 10:04 PM

Great to hear you're getting in shape, OP. I've been trying to shuck off my beer belly for the past few months, and I've pretty much succeeded. I used the method in "The Truth About Six Pack Abs," a program designed to help you burn belly fat as efficiently as possible. I've written a review of the program here.
