Is it true that faster twist like longer bullets? I thinks that's the conclusion of the Greenhill Formula.

Thats been my experience, in my 1:20 and 1:18 barrels

Josmund

In a 1-30 twist a 200 grain bullet is really pushing the limit. Fortunately 200 grain lead copper bullet is still somewhat short. So it will work very well from the 1-30. When you move to a Barnes or a Bloodline, bullets without lead they get very long very quickly - and in that case the 1-30 can not get them to sabilize without a whole lot of velocity. In a 1-20 stabilize with moderate velocities..

Since the PR's are and all lead bullet - they might be just fine in a 1-30.

Sharpshooter what do the PR's measure in length? Can not imagine that Cecil would build a bullet that would not shoot in most guns on the market.

1.057 and they might shoot in a 1:30 but probably not as good. I'll try it next trip out and see

how come you havent shot any BIG conicals in the 1:20 twist? I figured they'd do well with that twist.

You know they just might shoot very well since they are full bore and the length-diameter would be different. With a sabot a 1" long bullet is pushing it.

If they stabilize there really should not be any difference between the 1-20 and 1-30... So the question is will they stabilize in the 1-30.

The Lehigh/Bloodline is .906" and somewhat marginal in a 1-30, so I have been told, but they work very well my 1-30...

They are not full bore. They are a 40 cal bullet with 45 cal tan sabot
I shot 460 gr but started to get recoil sensitive with 110 gr so I decided to go light for a while:biggrin:

OOPS!:o that will make a difference - so you are probably right they may not stabilize in a 1-30...

Awesome shooting! That is pretty amazing, especially for a hot day. I also have had good accuracy with the Dead Centers, but never had the opportunity to try them out on a hunt...
