Default Healthier Shooting

In order to promote better eating habits some of this mornings shoot was at a cereal box filled with one gallon of water. The Cheez-it have made the belly grow. The purpose of the shooting done this morning was kinda two-fold. Busta' vent liner wanted some more shooting, and it seems i cannot get enough of blowing up water containers.

The Dream Season was loaded with 300g Deep Curl, 100g BH, crush rib sabot, W209 primer. The shooting here lately has been used as practice for hunting. All shooting this week, has been done using a bipod; today was no different. The range to the target was about 150 yard. It seemed wishful thinking to be able to kill a deer at 150 yard using iron sights, but it did seem if one could hit a cereal box at 150 yard, one may be able to kill a deer at 150 yard.

The first photo shows the healthy cereal box, and the shooter sitting on the ground beyond the truck. The rifle is resting in the bipod, which has the legs telescoped in as tight as possible. The shooter is trying to get the sights steady on the box, and then trying to squeeze the trigger.

The shooter' position is revealed better by the puff of smoke from the rifle in the following photo. The bullet is now en route to the cereal box.

The shooter took 3 tries to hit the box. The second shot looked like it might have hit high. The hold was high for the first two shots, and it was a surprise that the bullet was flying so flat out to 150 yard. The hold was more onto the box for the last shot. Hearing protection was forgotten when the walk was made out to 150 yard, so the shooting was done without. This made it more fun; hearing the bullets hit. It was really a cool sound when the bullet hit the water filled cereal box.

The last photo was taken 2 full seconds after impact. It was kinda surprising the water was in the air for so long, even though the water did seem to fly really up at impact.

Note how the box just opened up, and just lay there. These box make very good targets. They explode spectacular at impact, but they don't fly all over and around. Picking up the trash is quick and easy. Cheez-it box work good too, but tend to enlarge the belly. These box are the best water filled target used thus far. Powder jugs, milk jugs, margarine jugs, cottage cheese jugs, potato salad jugs, juice jugs etc. all break into small pieces and fly far far away. These box mostly just lay down, with a few scattered small piece.

Busta' vent liner now has seen 187 shot, and the flash hole is 0.033".

Maybe you need to start eating bran cereal. That way it helps the belly stay smaller, the bowels will love the bran consistency food and exercise, and you'd still have a box to shoot at.

Very nice shooting. That is some long range shooting.

Shooting at that rice cake box would make my belly smaller?

The box looks small, could i hit it at 150 yard?

The equation h = 1/2gtt =1/2 32 ft/sec/sec 2 sec 2 sec = 64 ft seems to indicate the water was at least 64 feet up in the air. Is that possible?

Should the Deep Curl be renamed Water Flinger?

Correction: Mist Maker

Oops! Don't forget the water spends half the time going up, and half the time falling. Thus the water could only have traveled 32 or so feet up.

Mist maker is so much the more poetic!!
