I have a war on with those little red squirrels. Horiable little critters in many ways includeing trying to skin them for a stew. They make great weasel food though.

In 1999 I left our travel trailer at deer camp as we were going to build a cabin there as soon as the spring thaw started. I also planed on hunting some coyotes that were starting to over run the area and had become bold.
Any how by January those little red squirrels had invaded the place chewing holes in the ceiling and walls all over the place. Basicly destroying it inside.

I took my Rugar 77-22 Up there the next trip and killed more of them than coyotes. In June when we started the cabin I had that 22 sitting handy on what ever project I was working on. I would kill one and carry it the the burn pit tha thad a big medal cover. I must have had at least a dozen I thru in there when it dawned on me where are they going there isn't any bodies?
I foundf out a few days latter when I uncovered the lumber to build the loft. A weasel ran off from under the tarp as it was being pulled off and once uncovered there was a bunch of dead bodies.

At the cabin now I leave boxes of decon rat posin along with the mouse posin when we are not there. Seems to work so far.

Wife says she sees them in the pole barn here at home when I'm gone and she goes out to feed the pups. I've sat out there for hours on end different times of the day and never seen any.

I was up at my hunt club last week and the turkeys didn't want to cooperate with me and I switched to whistle pigs. I got two and my buddy go one.

I hunted one that was a real sized pig. He just didn't want to play that day. Will get him next time.

Years ago the folks had a farming neighbour with a hay field on a hill side next to the folks place. That hill side was full of wood chuck dens. Once he took the first cutting off and the second cutting was a bout 5 inches high the chucks would have a tender feast but not with out perels. My brother and I would set up on the hill top on the folks place and whittle the population down. Neighbour got discussed we didn't shoot them all. He came out in the field one day with a old b/s engine with oil mixed rich in the gas so it smoked to beat the band. shoved a hose down the hole then as smoke would come out a hole he covered it with card board and a rock. soon he only had one hole open and shot those chucks as they ran from the smoky den.

Young chuck is some good eatting.
