Anyone have any experience with a GM LR Hunter 45 TC drop in barrel? If I go through with this I would like to try a RB load although I know those were not the intent. I still need to find a TC Hawken stock for this project. The goal is just a offhand target piece.

I have exp with this as well as some other members. But I have never tried RBs in it (twist is actually 1:30). But it is a fantastic shooter for me using a 200 gr .400 XTP and a blue Harvester CR sabot and 80 gr of Pyrodex P.

I tried PRBs in mine fisher1, and could not get what I considered acceptable 50-yard accuracy. I tried loads of GOEX FFFg from 25 to 50 grains.

However, as you can see from the target below I did find a sweet shooting light target & small game load with sabots and 125 grain jacketed bullets. It was very finicky finding that load though. Five grains more or five grains less opened the groups up considerably.

That is a very nice group, I didn't think of a .357 bullet. If I do this I would like to use a tang aperature sight just to keep the traditional look of the side lock. I've got to find a stock and get this thing going.

If you go that way just be careful with those 125 grain .357 bullets. The recoil of those things is way up there in the .22 rimfire magnum range.

My GM 45 LR hunter w/TC lock is on the way. Got a great deal last night on a TC Hawken unfin. stock w/all hardwear except trigger and tang for 57.00 including shipping. The barrel has a Hot Shot nipple will this be ok with a mag. 11 cap for T7? Going to try those Speer 125's but would like to try a lead conical like the PR Keith Nose but they are pricey, any suggestions would be welcome. If anyone has a Lyman or Williams receiver sight, globe front sight,15/16 tang or TC trigger guard they would part with for the right $ I have a home.

The hot shot should work fine that is what I use with the Mag #11's. You got a good deal on the stock. Don't get in a big rush and your trigger and tang will be reasonable price. I hated the Hawken butt plate. I do like my limb saver on it now. I tried T7 but I didn't like it at all. I do like the pyrodex P a lot. The T7 was way too hot for my blood. I saw a friend of mine split his stock with 100 gr of T7 and a 410 gr Hornady great plains bullet.
As far as conicals go, the only way to go is make your own. Ron
