Default Best commercial gun scrubber?

What have you guys found to be the best store bought cleaner to get rid of all the factory grease in the actions of your guns? Especially something that is safe for synthetic and camo dipped stock.

That is a hard question because of the stock aspect. That basically puts Brake and Carb cleaner out of the equation. A good cleaner that will remove a lot of stuff is Birchwood Casey #77 muzzleloader cleaner. I also like Butch's Bore Shine for black powder. But I can not swear they remove grease. So this is an interesting thread. Of course there are many solvents out there. But solvents might also remove paint from a dipped stock.

Perhaps some of the commercial kitchen cleaners like 409, Simple Green, Orange Zest Cleaner, might work. They might also take the paint off though. Id try some and be real careful.

+1 I use both of these with great results. Can't say they're the best but they work well for me.

I see Birchwood Casey makes a synthetic safe gun scrubber. Is that the one you guys are talking about?

Take off the stock and use brake cleaner. You only do it once.

This time I agree with Muley. Why wouldn't you want to remover your barrel from the stock to clean the grease out of it?

careful with brake cleaner, it will strip nickle plated finishes right off. Thats why i use the Gun Scrubber " Not bore scrubber" to remove all traces of factory packing grease from the actions of my muzzies.
