Velocity testing?
#1
Quick question, I was wondering if anyone has chrono'd .40 caliber bullets shot out of a .50 cal. Specifically, I'm shooting .40 cal 180 grain and 200 grain projectiles using T7 powder. Any ideas of what kind of velocity I might be getting using 110 grains of T7? Any replies are appreciated...

Can't help you with .50 caliber data. Out of my .45 caliber 1:30 twist Green Mountain barrel I got a five shot average of 2037 fps with 110 grains T7 FFG and the .40/200 grain XTP in H4540B sabots.

Well, yours was only Semi-Useless, so I'll take it
. I was figuring around 2,000 fps give or take with 110 grains/.40 cal bullet out of a .50.....

Not out of a 50 but I can add this that might help some. I would guess from a 50 the velocities might be 75-100 fps less...

Thanks sabotloader, it was actually your chart that made me ask about .50 cal velocities. I have a .45 too, so your chart has been very helpful. I just wasn't sure how much velocity you lose with a .50/.40 compared to a .45/.40. Thanks!

Make that OSH. (Or even MustyCanineOfAdvancedAge.)
