That 21" stainless barrel was originally what I was wanting when I first started looking a month or so ago. Problem is according to their website they don't have them anymore. I don't know if they'll start making them again? It would sure make for a nice woods gun.
How much would the 21" barrel affect accuracy at longer ranges? Most of my shots would be pretty close, but I do hav a couple places that I could hunt that I would be able to take shots up to about 200 yards? Is that something that would be possible about this type of gun or would that be a good day to take a different gun?

Kirby if your just looking to shoot conicals and it doesn't have to be a traditional rifle. the Knight wolverines are excellent conical shooters and you can pick up NIB blue/ blacks for $150.00 or buy one direct from knight camoed/blue for $289.00.

I guess it wouldn't have to be, but it just kind of seem like a traditional would be the right thing to do with conicals.

Actually the Knight wolverine is a plunger style like the White rifles, which are considered one of the best conical shooters ever made.Knight rifles can also shoot conicals almost as well as a White rifles.

Were it me I would go with the 50 first - I believe there are a lot more options in the projectile line with it than the 45.

Plus there are a lot of places that still require a 50 to hunt larger big game with.

I was tempted to tell that it is for sale, but I think I will hang on to it a bit longer...

what do you consider a heavy conical? I have a friend with a TC hawken .54 that shoots consistent 3 inch groups at 100 yards with a 430 maxi ball, I have a .54 TC greyhawk that shoots about the same size groups with the same maxiball, both with open sites and I'm sure they would do a little better with a scope. I also have a Cabelas hawken that will hold about a 4 inch group with the same bullet. All are 1-48 twist I believe.

For my45 cal. I shoot a 460 to 540 . I consider that a heavy conical.
for my 40 cal white I shoot a 410 gr conical.
