The rifle arrived here Thursday. The scope arrived here Friday. The scope fits nice and close to the barrel.
Saturday we were able to do some shooting. This morning we were able to do more shooting. Saturday two shots were made at 25 yard, and more at 100 yard, and some more at 200 yard. After the shooting Saturday, the sight was fairly close. Today the shooting began at 200 yard with a cold clean barrel
The load was 120g BH209, 200g SST, Harvester sabot, W209 primer. The primer fit was perfect, and resulted in zero blow by. The air was still and 15 degrees. Then a move was made so to shoot at 300 yard.
The bullet holes to the right were punched at 300 yard, and the holes to the left are them ones made at 200 yard.
This rifle was the third to the last one on the close-out at Third Generation site. It has a 45 caliber hole drilled in the standard barrel so weighs about 1/4 pound more than a 50 caliber. It appears this heavier barrel shoots straight. This rifle has the old style firing pin chingadero, and the lug holding the trigger mechanism is welded to the barrel. Trigger is virtually perfect.

This rifle is one of them ones that were on sale for $300. We all knew they were a good buy, but i for one, sure didn't know this one would shoot this good without any tinkering. Shoots fast too. Clock say them SST were flying out of the barrel at 2365 fps using 120g BH. Myself, i guessed 2200 to set the moa to 200, and 300 yard, and in both cases the bullets flew higher than they were supposed to, so it makes sense that 2200 fps was too low. Only have 28 shots out of this rifle; time will tell if it is indeed a good shooter.

Excellent shooting Ron. What kind of scope is that? That is sure a nice looking rifle, and no question a shooter. I would guess you had a little bit of a left to right wind at 300 yards. That is some exceptional shooting at 200 yards.

There is a side canyon coming in right in front of the target at the left. It seems it usually does push the bullets right. The scope is a Leupold VX-2; the PowderHorn i ordered hasn't arrived yet. Thanks to your questioning the moa on the dial of your scope, i have kinda, sorta, maybe figured out how to use them numbers on the dial.
