I don't know how well they would shoot for you, but another option with the .54 1:32 twist would be Speer 400 grain soft point flat nose bullets in 54/45 sabots. You should be able to get those up to a velocity to easily reach the energy requirement (1600 fps would do it) and have a tougher bullet than the lead Hornady.

IMHO, If I were you and wanted to use the Lyman, I would. Your chosen Hornady projectile would be my last choice of projectiles if it has a Hollow Point. I would use a Maxi ball, or a REAL Projectile.

Well, i have neither of them rifle. There are 50 caliber rifle around here. So, i would use a 50 caliber rifle, a 300g partition, and 110 to 120g of BH. This will produce around 2400 ft lb energy at the muzzle, and dead bison on the ground.
