BPSmoke - better read the regs again. Yes you can use a pistol but for deer (big game) it must be 54 cal or larger. You can only use the 50 cal for small game. A flinter pistol would be a real challenge for sure. But with a rest I can see you being sucessful.
Breech - You couldn't look like that on your best day.......

Bronko...maybe YOU should read the regs again. On page31 of the Pa. 2011-12 Hunting/Trapping Digest under the Big Game Regulations Lawful Arms & Ammunition paragraph Muzzleloader Seasons it specifically states: "or .50 caliber or larger handgun". You will find this at the bottom left of the page and it applies to both the early and late seasons with the difference being both percussion and flintlock guns may be used in the early season (scopes permitted) and flintlock only guns in the late season with scopes not permitted. It basically states the same info under the regular Deer and Bear season firearms regs. Sorry...BPS

Smoke, no offense taken. I did re-read the regs and YOU are correct. I could have sworn it was a .54 for big game. I guess Semi is right. I am getting old. I am starting to suffer from CRS.
