I've been one to keep things that work and dont change them if I dont have to. Pyro works fine for me. I thought of trying BH but then it would cost me a-lot making the change from Pyro to BH. Beside sighting in all my MLer's with it, I dont know it, I dont know how it ack's, keep's in My MLer or what it will do velocity and accuracy wise. I've been using Pyro for so long I know it inside and out. When I have a load of Pyro in any of my MLer's I know how, what, when and where it will do when I pull the trigger.
I've spent hundreds, possibly and probably Thousands of hours of range and field time knowing pyro and what it will do in all My MLer's. When I pick up and fire any of My MLer's Im confident in my shot, it would be too much for me to change and do this all over again. It may seem simple and may be, but after all these years of doing it with Pyro I just cant make the switch.
Heck I wont even try T-7 and it's Pyro, it was hard enough going from Goex to Pyro:biggrin:
My Kodiak Pro was only shot a few times then Boxed, still as new as can be, I gave the wife the Kodiak Mag. It sits with My Accura New in the Box and a CVA Stag Horn New in the Box. I usually buy 2 of them when I get em in case something goes worng with one during Hunting Season so I have a backup. I also retired My CVA HUnterbolt Mag ever since I bought My Accura's.

I shot pyrodex for years in my renegade and still do in my knight wolverine with conical bullets.

Got my new 209 plug from cva in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to try it out in the Wolf. Why do they send a wrench when you don't get one with the new rifle. Will it be needed?

ronlaughlin 01-15-2012 03:16 AM

The wrench is needed to fit the plug to your rifle. You don't get the wrench with a new rifle because it was fitted at the factory. You may not be able to completely close the action without using the wrench. You may not be able to cock the hammer without using the wrench. Once the wrench is used, and the job is done correctly, you never need to use it again.

Thanks for the clarification on that. I have not tried to install the plug yet.

I believe you are to install the plug the first time using the wrench. You install the plug and firm it up as snug as you can with the wrench and your hands. Then loosen the plug with the wrench and afterward use the plug just as you normally would - no wrench.

I think the wrench is to apply enough force to fit the seal at the end of the plug to the barrel. Once that seal is established, it's finger operation from then on.

Have'nt seen the new Accura Mountain Rifle yet......but I did look on Cabela's at the sales on there MLer's. I did see they have the Optima SS/Realtree for $299, not a bad price, but I see it does'nt come with any Open Sights??? OK I can see that same like a Scope but what about those that Cant Use a Scope for MLing?? Also it does'nt say if the SS Barrel is a (Bergara) is it??
Also NO Way am I going to spend the kind of money they want for a new Accura V2 SS/Camo when I have a still Brand New Accura V1 SS/Camo Un-Opened in the Box that I only paid $349 for.....they have to be Crazy to want that much more for one with a QRBP and some Rubber on the Stock and Forearm, seems like I got the better of the Deal with my Accura V1's

Heres some Pics of the BH209 plug from today. 9 shots and you can see a lil bit of carbon i cleaned out of the plug after i was finished shooting.

Top shot was with the 270gr Harvester Sabertooth bullets, I took 5 shots and the first was the only one to show up on target LOL.

Middle
shots were 3 shots with the 250gr Powerbelt Aerolites and 100gr BH209. It looks like 2 shots but to me, that shot farthest to the right looks smudged out so its real hard to tell.

Bottom
2 shots were the 300gr Powerbelt Aerolites, I want to try these again as they are accurate in this Wolf.

160 yards
