Just bed it

None of mine have a pillar, just bedded from in front of the trigger to in front on the recoil lug. It keeps the action from wiggling in the stock. It takes a bit of sanding to get the barrel to float all the way as I like more clearance than most.

How about a photo of one of your bed jobs? I'm thinking of doing an Elite. Do you putty up the forked lug?

Sorry if this is a hijack but I think we're on topic.

Josmund, be careful. If you putty up the fork, you will block the ramrod from fully seating in the stock.

Thanks for the replies. I think I made up my mind. The project begins tomorrow. I am going to bed the 45 disc 1:20 twist with the synthetic stock. I was going to do the laminate just because it looked so much nicer but after reading sabotloaders post I decided on the synthetic. I chose the fast twist so I could use heavy lead as well as sabots

Sounds like the perfect decision to me.
