What load to use drop a deer ?

Is a half a load big enough to drop a whitetail :deer: ? :confused2:

Half of what load? There are a wide range of loads use on deer that work well. From 70 grains of powder to 140 or 150 grains of powder. 70 grains with a 400 grain conical will do the job 140 grains of powder with the Lehigh Shock Wave or FTX will do the job. The powder load must relate to the bullet to produce the energy to do the job.
You will have to define what you are talking about or it is not possible to give a reasonable answer.

Classic question.

Sure, but it only has half the range.

Semisane 11-23-2011 07:57 AM

It would be fine so long as you use it on the front half of the deer.

I hate it when I drop half a load, I know the other will drop once I'm all settled in... :)

Now you put up a poll. We still need more info.

What gun?

Black powder, or subs?

What subs?

What bullet?
