Default Harvester Sabertooth bullets

Going to be giving these a try again in the Optima. Been a long whine since i have shot these but i figure that i will do some testing with the 300gr version and see how they shoot and if they will stand up to an elk.

What will you be testing them on MD. I have wanted someone to compare them to the FPB which I really love.

Steve, i'll most likely just set up my usual sand bucket and see how they come out. All i have are T7 pellets until my next powder order comes in so i will test them out tomorrow.

Maybe do some water jug tests and see what comes out.

One thing for sure, they drop right down my Optima's bore. A powerbelt loads harder. Dunno how that will go.

DonJose is still waiting to see the results Jon....... me too!

I'm doing a quick board search on water test bullets here. This was one of the old threads that surfaced.

Waiting since Nov. 18th 2011 has been a long wait time. It appears the wait will be a bit longer also.

Maybe Boncarbo,Colorado was the first to run out of water out west. Or maybe Jon accidentally dropped the tested water bullet in a boiling vat of his own patch lube.

I killed a 8 point with my encore .50 cal with the 300gr. sabertooths back several years ago when I still had the encore. He walked fast below me in a field (I was in a blind up on the ridge). I grunted at him several times and he went out of sight, then came semi-running towards me. The shot was in the front right shoulder angling through the chest to the back of the left shoulder. At the shot he took off and watched him go out of sight. There was a small amount of blood, but enough to track, and I found him roughly 60 or so yards along the ridge.

The sabertooth didn't exit, that I remember and I never found it, must have been in the guts. I would use them again, if I didn't have any better bullets. I prefer a pass through shot for two holes and better blood trail.

I still have a couple packs left, might try them in the CVA pistol for target.

from a post i found at my place when i originally shot them.

Took the Optima out to 100 yards today with T7 pellets as well as Pyrodex Pellets. The Pyrodex pellets shot best with 100gr and the 300gr Sabertooth. 2 1/2". Not the greatest accuracy but good for pellets.

Switched over to using 150gr T7 pellets " 100gr didnt shoot for crap" and got a good 2 1/2" group.

I was able to recover one bullet from the Pyrodex Pellet charge and it was 254gr but hit a sand stone rock which knocked a chunk of bullet off. Had that not happened, im thinking it would have been a full 300gr.

Now i recovered 2 bullets from the 150gr T7 charges and one weighs 284 grains and the other, 290 grains. That should be perfect for an elk with 100gr BH209.
