I tried them. They were a pain in the butt. Gave them to my brother-in-law. He tried them also, then threw them in the trash.

Thanks for the reply. You probably just saved me some money.

I have them too. They are a pain in the butt. I tried them out about 5 years ago. It is very difficult to seat the rifle primers in the 209 holder-thingy. I had several misfires with them and several more hangfires. They now reside in a box somewhere in the basement collecting dust...

PR offers a better solution IF you want to use 25ACP instead. They sell a breach plug for several MLs. They are supposed to work very well with most subs excluding BH209. IMO though a 25ACP isnt that much larger than a 209 primer and im not so sure i believe it improves accuracy. It might help the crud ring if you use T7 though.

The VariFlame worked fine for me. They reduced the crud ring some, but did not eliminate it. When BH209 became available, i quit using them.

Gm54-120 mentioned the 25acp, they may work about the same as the VariFlame, but be easier to remove, and install primers.

Unless you use 777 they have nothing to offer. If you have crud ring with a modern close breach gun the best answer is Blackhorn. If you have one of the efficient BP most guns have one for Blackhorn available.
