Default hawkens drops another.

Yesterday was opening day of blackpowder in VA. I didn't go in the morning as I been on vacation and bowhunting right steady. I decided to go at 2pm and dropped this guy at 530pm.

I was on the ground and called him into 20 yards and the rest is history. Actually there is a longer story and how things came to happen.

Typical looking 8 at first but has a small 1 inch kicker on his right side making him a 9 and my biggest deer to date.

My hawkens is starting to be a lucky charm. I built it several yrs ago over 40 hours into it and seems the first day in the woods each yr the hammer drops on a buck.

Great deer!! What load were you shooting, and how far did he run after being hit?

Yep called him into me around 20 yards using my tru talker.

Shooting 90 grains of loose pyrodex pushing a 250gr Shockwave with a remington no .11

He ran just around 25 to 30 yards and dropped like a rock. Within 30 seconds of the shot he gave a kick and one last breath and expired.
