Deer Antler smell

Default Deer Antler smell

Guys i got my deer rack and nice and purdy! The problem is that it smells like something rotten. You know how when you cut antlers off they have that real strong smell? Anything i can do for this? I was thinking about soaking the skull section in bleach but im not sure.

Bleach, salt, but mostly time. You can boil it to speed it up. Do you have the inside of the skull clean? How did you clean it?

yes its bright white. I peeled the skin off and then used a torch to make sure everything was off, salted for 2 weeks. Even used a wire brush to clean it free of anything.

that'd ruin the color!! Its no biggy, im sure the smell will ease up sometime. I am going to cut a cedar log and screw it onto that.

I always chuck mine on the top of the shed for a few months. the flies and nature eliminate that funky smell lol..
