Congrats on the fine harvest! Great story and pics. I'm surprised the deer ran as far as it did with a good shot, but it does happen sometimes. Tracking in a swamp is no fun at all- I had to do it once during bow season- and after that, NO THANK YOU.

We have a lot of road hunters too- they greatly annoy me. It is illegal, but they do it anyways- cruising up and down the dirt road and coal mining company trails. My only consolation is that they largely seem to be unsuccessful - the deer have figured this one out and they tend to come home empty-handed.

Gorgeous buck! I took my first 8-pointer five days ago with my new Mountaineer at 209 yds. Hit him in the chest because after five mins. he simply would not turn sideways. The shot knocked him clean, off his feet and hit exactly where I aimed my 200 yd. mark.
Gotta love those insanely accurate Knight rifles. Smokepolejim .Not sure how to post a photo of him on here.

170 yards with his heart blown apart? Daaaaang! Just goes to show you how some deer just have more grunt in them. One heck of a beautiful deer
