you do not need a background check for this gun... you do NOT fill out a 4473 for the Encore FX.

The Encores were made so YOU have the option of switching barrels. If you want a tried and proven fixed barrel TC without passing a background check get a Omega or Triumph.

Accuracy is not that great from what I hear but I have not shot one so I will comment no further.

Exactly, no paperwork with the FX. Order it from Cabelas to your door if you want. I will stick to my Pro Hunters. The paperwork does not bother me and I like the ability to change to a rifle barrel. :happy0001:

If you got one lets see how she shoots.

The breech plug looks to be kinda copy of the QRBP. Is it? It does have better geometry, than the QRBP, at the powder end. If it has a 5/32" flame channel, and a standard TC 0.029" flash hole, it may be near ideal, for igniting BH.

I wonder if it makes as nice a seal with the barrel, as the QRBP do.

Are you saying TC copied CVA's QRBP? I think TC just got :busted:

ok here are some results... longer "28 inch" barrel on the PH version doesn't really get you more velocity. Barrel is tight. With .451 dia bullets best use HPH 24 sabots. the MMP 3P-EZ is too loose but if you have .452 dia bullets this most likely is the sabot to use but I didn't have any .452 bullets...

Here is the velocities from from my crony. All shots were with 120 grains of FFF T7. Tried to take one with the FF version but crony malfuntioned on those too shots for some reason...It was very windy so I only shot at 50 yards however the range has high dirt side banks...

These were all one shot velocities but should give an idea of the velocity from the 26 barrel:

1982 fps with a 250 grain Barnes TEZ with the Barnes blue sabot (HPH 24)

1812 fps with a 300 grain Speer .451 Uni-cor and a MMP 3P-EZ (three petal-too loose imo)

1851 fps with the same 300 grain Speer .451 Uni-cor and a MMP HPH 24

Accuracy was excellent--one hole group at 50 yards.

LOL exactly how i see it.

rdpettit 10-19-2011 03:53 PM

it's better than CVA's

MountainDevil54 10-19-2011 03:55 PM

if you look, theres nothing on the end of it to expand and seal off the gasses like on the QRBP. Will be interesting to see how it does with blow back into the threads.

Notice the tool cut out in it? uh oh!

rdpettit 10-19-2011 03:58 PM

there was no blow back... much cleaner that the CVA plug and the older PH plug. I had the internal plug on my PH that you needed the turn tool to pull out.... this is the best plug I've ever had...
