Something that might help you
Today I was shooting my White Bison. And as usual the rifle shot perfect.
The top two hits were the first two shot and the rest were after the rifle had settled in.
But the reason for the post is different. This Bison I purchased off GunBroker.Com and got it cheap because it was in poor condition the seller advised. I've been cleaning and working the rifle over for some time now. But when I got the rifle, the barrel was very dirty, and pitted. Face it, the rifle was ruff looking but I figured the trigger, breech plug, springs, and plunger were worth what I paid for the rifle.
But have you ever had one of them rifles that even when clean.. the patches come out, light gray. Or not as bright white as the patch originally was. Well this is one such rifle.
Today after shooting it, I was cleaning it. I'd taken the plunger and breech plug to the kitchen sink to clean there. I happened to notice some soft scrub (actually I got it at the dollar store so it was generic brand stuff) sitting there. I took a tooth brush, applied a little to the tooth brush and it scrubbed up that breech plug beautiful and fast.
After cleaning the parts I started on the bore of the rifle. And like usual, even though the barrel was clean, the patches coming out were .... just not right. Then I remembered the soft scrub. So I cut some more patches kind of thick and applied soft scrub to them. I then worked the barrel over real good with the soft scrub. Now I realize the cleaner is mildly abrasive, but very mild.
Well after four patches, the patches started coming out white, I mean clean. So I got some wet patches and cleaned the soft scrub out with that. And then I cleaned the rifle with some Windex. After that, I oiled up the bore.
All I will say is .. if you got one of them rifles that don't want to clean up, or a part.. soft scrub might be the answer.

Dave, That is pretty much the idea I had gotten with the liquid Lava soap - remember? I had the same problem with a .45 Hawken. But that Lava cleaned it up nicely.
When you think about it, its pretty funny what we run down our ML barrels to clean them. But we would think twice before using the same stuff on out centerfires! Yet most of our MLs will outshoot the majority of the CFs. Maybe we ought to rethink the cleaning methods for the CFs?
