Lots of people like 3f powder. Personally I like 2f powders for a lot of my rifles. In fact I just ordered 10 pounds of Schuetzen black powder at $14.99 a pound. And only got 3 of the 3f and 7 of the 2f as I shoot a lot more of that. Schuetzen is a German made black powder and is closer to acting like Swiss then other black powders. Its still not Swiss mind you, but Swiss was $21.95 a pound. At least that will hold me for a while. I find that more and more, I am moving away from Pyrodex, APP, JSG, and Triple Seven powder and just shooting black powder. It might be dirty, but it goes off in all kinds of weather, has great consistency, and works in any rifle, with any ignition system or breech plug.

Who do you buy your powder from Dave? I can buy Goex locally but I would like to find a good source for Swiss, just to try some of it.

I purchase from Grafs and sons. They are the cheapest now.

I've gone back to Goex 2F from Swiss. I like the softer recoil and it's just as consistent for my type of shooting. The money I save lets me shoot more.

Yes, it's dirty, but who cares. It's a muzzleloader.
