Still Thinking About Those Hogs
#1
Last evening i was sitting in a tree stand after sunset: Heard the leaves rustle about 30 feet from me. Some big hogs with pigs were going down the small gully to my left. Sat waited for them to come out.
After about ten minutes two large boars passed in front at about 20 yards and stopped. Took the safety off my StagHorn and took aim at the big one. WHOA!!! No one wants another hog. The give away market for hog meat is saturated.
Passing on a hog is very hard for me gto fathom. My wife would have had a fit because we don't need any hog meat either. Wish i had shot the sucker anyway.

No hogs here where I hunt in PA or MD, I am glad after hearing about the havoc they do to fields and the way the breed. Problem is PA has some hog farms where you pay to hunt and they escape from captivity all the time. Good thing is you can blast away at them.
Too bad I do not hunt bordering the pig pens.....
On another note. Does any place take them as donations for Hunters Feeding the Hungry? Or are they scared because they are considered a dirty pig? I know when a friend shoots them in Alabama the deer processor will not butcher them, they do them by themselves back at camp.

I don't like to waste an animal. But hogs and coyotes are an exception. I hate cleaning hogs but would never pass on one even if I had to let it rot in the woods.

Talking with an old rancher in Texas last year he said regarding hogs, "There are 2 types of states, those that have hogs and those that are going to have hogs." Omega said we don't have hogs in PA. But unfortunately we do in a couple counties. These are escaped feral hogs. Hopefully they will be contained but the prospects of that are slim due to their breeding behavior and how quick their population can grow.

Got these youngsters of my cam yesterday. These were the only daytime pics that I had.
i reset a feeder to run 15 minutes before sunset. They catch on pretty quick: Now they're coming in 10 minutes before dark to 20 minutes after dark.
