new to me knight disc orignal (orange disc)
 

sorry I don't have any before pics.

debated with myself for 24hrs in to buying, but the price. just looking at the barrel. bore butter, major amount of bore butter. so much i could not figure out how the bore looked. bought for $131 tax and all. priced marked $140.

just from how much bore butter that was in the barrel I should of knew what I was getting in to.
sprayed tc foaming bore clean and let it set. first patch rust colored. (reaction of the bore cleaner and bore butter). used blue wolf commercial cleaner. black patch, dry patch, alcohol. dry patch. oil patch nothing coming out.

minor pitting in the barrel, so minor, if I was not looking for it I would not see it.

while cleaning, all I thought about was how much this was like cleaning mil surp. lol

I have the same rifle. Does your rifle require a C tool to take it apart? If it does, be sure to use that or the bolt can really get messed up.

I hope it's not the Knight disc with the 1 in 20 barrel twist? They were made for one year before they realized the twist rate was too fast and it would not shoot an accurate load. I've unfortunately got one. Bought it new and after a couple years of trying to get a load to shoot average with it and failing I took the scope off and it's been in the closet ever since. If you do a little on line research you will see what I'm talking about.

It all depends on what bullet you are shooting out of them. White rifles have the same twist in their 45s and they are great shooters. It takes a long bullet.
If you want to free up some closet space I might pay the shipping for you to send that fast twist Knight here.

That's mostly true, but I bought the .45 in hopes of shooting a lighter, faster, and flatter shooting load. I'm sure that's how they were marketed also. The 1 in 20 twist rate was changed on the next years model if that's any indication of the barrels limitations. As far as my 1 in 20, I'll just let it keep on collecting dust. :biggrin:

Thats not entirely true. LOTS of guys shoot 1-20 and 1-22s at VERY high fps with smokeless (IN APPROVED GUNS) and it works fine with a 195gr or heavier bullet. The Original ads from ALL the fast twist 45 makers said to use a 155gr bullet and 3 pellets. They tried to compare them to a 7mm at the muzzle in terms of energy but the marketing was flawed...not the twist. Sabot quality has also improved but still needs some work to really make a 45cal nasty. If they made a sabot for a 300gr 405Win (.411), a 1-20 should stabilize it and you would have a solid 300 yard gun...BTW you can resize these down to fit but the sabot is just too short and weak to handle it.

That load MIGHT be fast but it isnt very likely to be accurate. Same holds true for the custom smokeless 1-20s. They don't like a 180gr unless you down load them a lot. Its also a great twist if you want to mess with sabotless and heavy amounts of BH209. Ive seen some impressive 250gr/2300fps groups but it takes some effort to size them correctly.

All White 45 were 1-20 also and shot huge 400gr+ 45s with awesome accuracy and really heavy White PowerStar 45x40cal sabots.

BTW grats Corey. Ive got a LNIB Original 45 too and with a conversion kit for the new style bolt and NFPJ (bare primer), they are SUPER clean shooters.
