Default Where Do I Go To Surrender

OK guys. Where do I go to surrender. I have been making fun of you guys about the BlackHorn Powder for a long time. And man I could not have been any more wrong!!

I finally made it out to my front porch to shoot my LRH with the new Lehigh 209 conversion(also that you guys talked me into),and the BlackHorn Powder. Along wth some new cushed rib sabots and some 300 grain deep curls.

The only target I had up was at 60 yards. So that was all I could shoot. It took me a few shots to get the rifle sighted in about 1" high at 60 yards. Which is exactly where I wanted it to be sighted in.

I did not have time to work up a load. I just decided on 110 grains of powder, and the Deep Curl. I just kept shooting and shooting. And I just kept wallering out the hole. Probably a hole about 1-1/4" around. I only ran 1 clean patch through the rifle twice. No problems with the bullet going down the bore. Nice and smooth---shot after shot. The primer seated perfectly every time. Absolutely ZERO dirt or residue on the bolt or action. SPOTLESS!!

I probably shot 15 shots into that big hole. With almost no cleaning. Now that is TOP NOTCH performance. So please accept my apology for all the stupid things I said about the BlackHorn Powder. I was definitely wrong!!

I decided I wanted to shoot one clean barrel shot at the end. So I cleaned out the barrel with some Sweet's and about 10 patches. The last two were completely clean. I then reloaded for one cold clean bore shot. And whammo, right inside the same hole at 60 yards. Now that is all any shooter could ever ask for.

Now I am ready in the next day or two to go kill that big fat doe. If only I can straighten my leg out. RANT OVER.

All "TOLD YOU SO'S" accepted!!

I talked to my reloading dealer on the phone a litle bit ago. He is getting me a price on a 5# cannister of the BlackHorn. Tom.

it really ruins you once you fire a few shots. Then you start looking at the sidelocks and say.... if only!

I believe he is referring to the flash channel in the Breech Plug. That can fill in with a carbon like substance and you need to clean the flash channel.

The hole under the primer (flash channel) NOT THE TINY HOLE ON THE OTHER END (flash hole)......fills up with carbon. Some designs are more prone to it than others. The Lehigh NFPJ conversion plug can go at least 50 shots and still has plenty of volume. I never clean mine until after the range session and never had a problem even with normal Win209s.

You can clean it out with a ProShot SS gas port brush set or a drill bit BY HAND.

The flash channel on your Lehigh plug should be 5/32. Just use a 1/8th bit to start cutting the primer carbon out spinning by hand. Then move up to the 5/32 bit and do the same. If I am wrong about the 5/32 bit someone will correct me. I have not shot nor cleaned the two of mine in awhile.

Good luck hunting!!
