So you are talking about the powder side of the breech plug?? I looked through the hole in the breech plug. And it appears the powder side is larger in diameter than the 209 side of the plug.

I think I understand what you guys mean now. Sorry for my ignorance on this one. I was just going to clean it with a pipe cleaner. But I can see now that would be inadequate.
I need to check my drill bit box.

I might just let a little solvent soak in there. Or would that hurt if I can't get it all out?? Would compressed air clean all that solvent out?? Tom.

I wouldnt worry about using solvent first in the channel. Its just as bad. Go straight to the brush or drill bit. You can finish up with a VERY light amount of CLP but use some alcohol on a Qtip to wipe it out before firing next time.

That why i use the steel brushes. They come out spotless and clean the vent threads too.

yeah where do you get those brushes at gm? i checked some local stores and they just have plastic brushes and the wrong size that i need.

MD

I got mine from Grafs Reloading. I even got one set and cut off the O ring handle. Then put it in a bit adapter for a cordless drill/screw driver. Wrap the small brush in a small piece of a patch and use some JB on the patch. You can do the same thing to the primer pocket with a special Dremel brush with steel bristles on the end. Spin it by hand in the pocket to remove carbon and/or put some JB on the patch and polish the primer pocket too.

Carbon has a harder time sticking to a polished surface. You can use whatever metal polish you like or jewelers rouge. <sp>

You will have a mirror shine in a minute.

I have some brushes like that. My local reloading shop sells that line of cleaning equipment. Pro Shop isn't it?? Tom.

Got to love this...and these where WinT7s and BH209.

I threw all mine out in the yard. I probably should not have done that!!:party0005:

I used the standard Winchester 209 primer, not the BP primers. I heard a couple of guys say the hotter primer was better?? Does that sound right?? Tom.

Yes i ONLY used the WinT7 to prove how well the Lehigh plug works. I used the weakest primer. I normally use Win209s in the Lehigh plug. Both primers are pretty close in size and blowby free.

I DONT RECOMMEND THEM FOR HUNTING but its fun to experiment and they have been used for some of my best conical groups too. I bet they would be awesome with some Swiss since the breach stays clean and they are PLENTY hot enough.

I know I am very satisfied with that Lehigh system I just put on my Knight LRH. You are one of the guys that talked me into it. And I thank you for that. My action and scope was spotless today. After a pretty extensive range session. Tom.

I think ive really pushed that plug to the limit. Including using 120grV and a sabotted 50cal 385gr bullet in the 54-120. Its kinda brutal but if any load would give blowby, that should do it.

The gun loved the load and primers looked great.
