Default range report xtp 300 mag white mountion tc

went to the range with my TC white mountian....1-20 twist(maybe28) I wanted to see what it would do with saboted bullets I've only shot maxi hunters for over 20 years and some rb's this year...r.e.a.l's too...but because of the twist rate I probly been useing the wrong ammo I've allways hunted with 90 grs rs pyrodex so I started with that 90 grs rs with a 50 cal harvester crushed rib sabot and a xtp mag 300gr .452....first shot was me high left (out side 1 shot of day)but 2 good shoots and 2 poor shots followed all shots were at 50 yards

I hate the sights on my white mountian there the factory sights the one with the v in the back not the partridge sight TC made...I like the TC partridge sight thats flat across the rear sight...I got a replacement fiberopic frount sight and I'm going to switch to the fiberopic rear sight too when I get both,I'll change the sights....this was my first time playing with saboted loads in this gun looks like it might like 80grs...I ran dry patches down between shots and a wet one when I started a new target

I take it that's with open sights. It looks like 80 grains is working. A deer doesn't have a chance if it gets that close to you. Not bad. But you should try a few shots at what you think your maximum range is with open sights. My max is about 70 yards.

the 80 grain load looks like it has some real promise. Were you swabbing between shots?

yes open sights...I really want to see how far I can shoot funny how my confidence changes with the sights, I hit a bell at 90 yards in the woods with my 56 smoothbore renagrade with the partridge TC sights...I had alot of confidence that day...the more I'm shooting I'm learning what sights I like better
