A guy on another forum posted a picture of his Austin Hallick rifle along side his Great Plains.
I was kind of taken with the stock configuration of the Austin Hallick and am thinking about modifying my Great Plains. The one thing I'm concerned about is changing the balance of my gun because I really like the balance the way it is.
What do you think? Would you do it?

I am a firm believer in leaving guns alone. The factory made the rifle that way or the builder, what ever the case might be.. and its not up to me to change it. Instead if I wanted to carve on something I could get a chunk of wood and carve a new stock for the rifle..

You've got a point there Cayugad. And I've always felt the same. But then again, if I had bought the Great Plains as a kit gun I might well have removed that "perch belly" from the stock.
