Default Clogged barrel

I recently purchased, from Cabela's, a 50 cal Hawken rifle. While cleaning the rifle, the patch attachment became stripped from the ramrod and is now sitting at the bottom of the barrel. Any suggestions?

If you can't shake it out by slapping on it upside down then a patch or ball puller miight grab a hold of it.another idea but I would never tell someone to do it is unscrew the nipple, work a few grains of powder down.use the rod to seat the jag then put a cap on and fire it out.since it is the cleaning jag I assume there is no load in it so a few grains down the fire channel wouldn't be dangerous

I am assuming you have a cleaning jag with a patch wrapped around it stuck somewhere down the bore.
I had that happen and I made sure the jag was pushed all the way down the bore. Then remove the nipple, fill the bolster with powder, tapping the side of the rifle repeatedly until you don't think anymore powder is going in. It only takes 5 to 10 grains. Then replace the nipple and shoot the jag out. If you feel it might blow up, do what I did. I strapped the rifle to the railing of the back porch so it was pointing at the ground and rigged a string to the trigger. Then I let out enough string so I could go inside and pull the string to fire the rifle. It worked perfectly and the rifle is fine.

That's what I would do. Works fine. Point it in a safe direction as it may come out with some force.

Indeed and sometimes there is moisture in the compressed air. Then you have more trouble. Just push it down and shoot it out as previously discussed.

I had one break off on me and I just packed some powder through the bolster and shot it out. And even a little powder will really send that flying.

I've had to do that several times over the years. Put a bunch of old clothes or rags into an empty box and shoot into that. That way, you won't lose your cleaning jag!....BPS
