For the scope shooters with bad eyes
#11
I likewise take the glasses off while shooting Ive not really tried shooting with them on Id be worried about being kissed by the scope. In the stand I wear them to read to pass the time and generally take them off when I see a deer Im gonna go for. Id like to use them while bow hunting but with the progressive lenses I dont trust the sight picture Im getting and without them my pin gets a lot blurry. Its a pain in the buttocks getting more mature...

This thread turned out a lot more interesting then I first thought. I know a lot of you are very good shooters. And to read your responses makes me start to think about how I shoot.
Also Sabotloader's suggestion of the contact lens.. I will discuss this with my eye doctor.

Dave, when you shoot wearing glasses you are looking through the upper inside corner of the lens. that is not the optical center of the lens and some distortion of the image will happen. You can have your optician make you a lens for your master eye with the optical center high and inside. With that change, looking straight ahead will not be exactly perfect but way better than no glasses. My brother is an optometrist and made me a pair of dedicated hunting glasses like this. They work.

I always wear my glasses for safety reason! Had a friend once have one of his handguns go boom and a piece of metal came back and shattered his lens of his glasses. If he had no glasses on, his eye would have been gone that day.
