Deep Curl defeats XTP Mag Update with Pic
 

Well after today I finally chose the Deep Curl. Did a milk jug test at 100 yards and the xtp tore it in half but it was slow. Actually got to watch it through the scope. The deep curl was different, pulled the trigger and it was GONE. There was pieces of the jug all over the place. Sorry no video though maybe next time. Also I want to say I was wrong and hard headed on the powder charge issue. 110 grains of BH209 seems to work the best especially at longer distances. Here is a pic of 100 yards and 200 yards. There is one bullet hole in the bottom of the 200 yard target. That was me trying to find out which circle to use on my OMEGA scope. Ends up being the bottome of second circle. Also and I will film this next time was 300 yards and a metal target. :fighting0007: Got 5 shots in a row hitting it. That is the solid black bar below the fourth circle !!!!! I will chrono 110 grains soon but I did a rough figure. I took how much the fps increased between 90 and 100 grains and added that to the 100 grain fps to equal 110. Hope that made sense. That equals 2014 fps.

So at 200 yards the drop is -10.5 inches, fps 1445 and energy of 1391

300 yards is a drop of -37.9 inches, 1230 fps, and energy of 1008.

Now don't quote this yet. Its kinda a nice base line but I will get the actual chorony results some time this month

50 cal, wheres the pic lol?110 gr seems to be the magic number for the .250 GD/DC, this has been my experience with it.other test have shown in the past it holds together better than the XTP. actually it holds up better than a lot of other bullets a lot higher priced. would really like to see your 200 yds groups.please post them up.. Ray

I have been shootin 110 gr loose 777/mmp shortie/250 gr XTP for the last 6 years.
Taken about 8 deer--ALL were pass thru's with the farthest trailing job of 25 yds.
Can't argue with it.
I do want to try the Speer bullets though--they're supposed to be a tougher bullet than XTP's.

Can someone give me a link to the deep curl bullets as well as the sabots that go with them. I use an Omega TC and the barrel is tight.

My son shoots these in his Encore. MMP shorts with Horn. XTP 250 gr.

Graffs has the .452 250 , 300gr deep curls. I shoot the 300gr in a crush rib sabot in my omega. They shot low compared to the Xtp but a sight adjustment fixed that.

Zach, this is a bi-sected Gold Dot/Deep Curl you can see the piece of bi-sected copper cup (the Gold dot) just below the hollow point. This little peice of copper acts a buffer for the bullet and contols the expansion to this point. This little dot will become more apparent later.



Next the copper is bonded to the lead actually heat applied to the lead so that it can not separate from the lead.

This is a factory picture of the ideal expansion of the bullet.



Never seen really this good although some folks have offered up really close likenesses of it. You can see the Gold Dot and how expansion was controlled around it.

Now in real life... I tried to destroy (strip) these shooting them a a water saturated clay water bar. Far more than you would ask of a hunting bullet in real life. These were all shot with the HPH-24 sabot and 100 grains of T7-2f @ 100 yards. They did pretty darn good.



And again you can find the dot and also see that there is still bullet shank remaining and a good desl of the total weight of the bullet.
