The only thing I am quite sure is that it creates better velocity than any of the older APP powders.

Other than it it still clumps.... It is very dusty as APP has always been, and it does seem a bit more consitent in size than the older APPs... It still seems large but not as large as the older APPs.

I think the size is to help make it meter correctly...

As for the lead sled...
I have never used a lead sled or any other fancy rest for that matter. I suppose there is a learning curve but not near what the learning curve is to shoot without one. I can see the point in using one to develop loads I guess.
My rests are really quite primitive and are pretty much what I would have in a hunting situation. I am the first to admit some days my targets are not something I want to show to the world, other days things seem to click. I am still a work in process and probably always will be. I want to get better at freehand shooting.
Sorry for the derail.

I am not sure that I would ever use a 'lead sled' I was referring to the one that FG uses that does 99% of the aiming for you with very small movements...

But when you look at the cost of this thing - I will not be getting one soon. Not sure i would even use it that much if I had it... There is no doubt in my mind it would make you a better bench shooter though...

I still stuck with my Jr. Rock front rest and sand bag on the rear...

Me too! When would you have ever thought that an APP powder would be faster thn BH!

It will be interesting to see if you get about the same numbers when the powder is a few more months old.
That might be a good idea... i was going to use it for fertilizer but I will hang on to it and shoot it again this summer.

The clumping doesn't bother me so long as it breaks up with a little shaking.
Agree...

If I would open a can of powder and it started clumping, it would be the last time I used it. The powder must really be sucking moisture. Of all the reports I have seen, not one shows an advantage over 777.m

I've shot some APP in the past and one thing I did like about it is it seemed like it loaded easier if you didn't swab barrel between shots, does the new powder seem that way? Also does it work out of a powder flask? The old 2f never did.

Yeah, I knew that was what you were referring to. Would it make a person a better bench shooter or just help you have better groups, but only when using "the sled".
I have never even looked into the cost of one.

It does... it stil leave that white residue in the bore which helps the sabot slide down the barrel...

Also does it work out of a powder flask? The old 2f never did.
Not sure that is going to happen it is still pretty gritty - maybe half the size of cat litter

The 'crud ring' can be managed it is a matter of learning what helps reduce and what you need to do when you get it.

Today I could have shot 4-5 shots without it causing a loading problem. Hunting I would alsways be able to get off a second shot. And at the range I really do not mind the patch as I want the barrel to be in same condition it would be when I were hunting...
