I know an experienced .45-70 reloader who uses APP.
The APP website states to load the .45-70 with 54 grains by weight of ffg using 1/16" of compression with a 405 grain bullet.
Use a good consistent crimp and no lube cookie or wad needed.

the barrel came ,also the dies . so i loaed up two different loadings using hornady 300 gr hp #ho4500.
WOW ! i dont know if i have ever found a load that works so good so quickly.
using 777 FFFG 54 gr by wieght which is very close to 70gr by volume .
at 100yd i shot a 3 shot groop that a nickle will cover
