Default Can one shot be a group?

It was today... A couple of months ago I found a NIB Disc Elite .50 that i just haven't had time to get to the range with untill today. I shot two shots at fifty to get the scope close then went to 100. I fired one shot that was three inches high and three inches to the left,,, made the scope adjustment and squeezed off a perfect shot, which is the target you see. At that point I thought, you know I could waste 200 more grains of BH and two more 300 grain Noslers for a pretty three shot group, but I think I'll just save those for one of my hog stands. Don't get me wrong, I love to shoot and I love pretty groups, but sometimes I feel like I'm tring to reinvent the wheel when my gun is shooting good and I keep on tinkering... I say just go kill something... anyway that's your words of wisdom for today!

I think I would keep shooting to verify that the POI is gonna be the same time after time rather than just figure that is the case. You may be surprised to see the next shot or two gives you a bigger group than you expected. I wouldn't base accuracy on one shot but 3 or 5 shot groups. especially if you are planning on using the gun for hunting.

Well I say that is a real nice group. But its not perfect - sorry. Its at least 1/2" high and about 7/16" left. Pretty sloppy for 100 yds with a ML. I don't know if you want to risk shooting at a hog with that rifle. Why don't you send it on over to me and let me tinker with it a bit and try to get it shooting a little better?

That is a beautiful rifle you have there. No doubt about it. Is one shot a group? No even by definition. "An assemblage of persons or objects gathered or located together." Note it does not refer to a person or object but rather these items in a plural sense, meaning more then one.

I have to agree with chetmarks. I would have shot at least two more, simply to check the validity of the scope, and the load as well. Not to mention the shooters skill. Yesterday while shooting my White I shot two separate bulls eyes with one shot each. While I did this to test the rifle and my self, I could not consider them groups.

Those disc rifles are simply good shooters. I am sure that your one shot could and probably did turn into multiple shots forming a wonderful group. Besides if you don't shoot more them one, how on earth are you going to get a flier to cuss and moan about?

Sounds good Bronk... shoot me a PM with your address...

Chet, I would be willing to give you that sweaty South Carolina heat Knight ball cap if the next two shots didn't produce a 1 1/2" or less three shot 100 yard group,,, or a dead pig, which ever I get to first. As you can see by the importance of the bet, this ain't my first trip to the range with a Knight rifle.. cheers!

Only 1 shot leaves a lot more doubt then 3 or more.

And I'm really joking more than anything guys. But think about it... I just got done cleaning my rifle and lets say at my next range session the first shot out the gun cuts the bull again... do I still need to shoot a five shot group or is the gun ready?

ok,ok just so ya'll won't worry I'll take my Vision after the little piggies... that's three shots at 100 yards...

Here's the problem with just taking one shot.

How do you know the gun isn't further off than you think, and you jerked the shot to target?

You won't know with one shot.

Before hunting I personally would shoot it more but I am not doubting that it is right on. Somebody has a gun just like that one in the classifieds.
