Most of those people needed two shots to kill the Hogs. I remember seeing two of them on video and witnesed two in person. It was a shame to tell you the truth. And on Deer size game the results would be different i'm sure.
A connical bullet would be my very last choice on any size game to tell you the truth. My opinion is based on what i have seen in the field. And listening to the other guys talk about there shots on those hogs that weekend as well. Batchief i believe was the only one with a 1 shot kill.

I cant remember if it was the first trip or the second trip to Crossville Tn when atleast 10 out of the 20 guys were shooting conical bullets. I will note this was on Russian Boar not Deer.

Now that is interesting. I was not aware of that. I guess I need to hunt a hog.

When you use a 496gr. conical like this:

That ends up looking like this after passing thru a hog:

Shooting consistant groups like this:

Which ends with results like this:

What more would you ask for? All 3 of my hogs were 1 shot kills. You just need to place the bullet where it belongs. Every large game animal I've pulled the trigger on using this bullet have been complete pass-thrus resulting in dead critter. Including a nice buck at 154 lazered yards. This is the only bullet I've been able to recover.

That hog looks pretty dead to me. Whatever bullet you shoot it is all about shot placement. I am pretty confident that a well placed conical will bring down any critter that walks in North America, maybe even in the world.

Confidence and results is the key. I would have no confidence at all to tell you the truth with conicals. Especially on dangerous game.

Memories of all those hunts are priceless. It's a shame all good things come to an end. I wish we could do that every year. Even my schedule is getting tougher to plan fun like this.
