Which camo pattern would you choose?

Which of these might you choose... I will be sending a Big Horn Thumbhole down later this month and looking for a good pattern

Omega45 04-06-2011 01:12 PM

B but only because I know you already have D. BTW....you have A listed twice. :D

If you would have had an E for WTP-339 that would have been my choice but only because I think you already have WTP-380. I am confusing myself now :confused0024:.............have fun choosing there is just too many choices.

Muley Hunter 04-06-2011 01:27 PM

Camo guns look like crap!

Who said that? :lolabove:

builder459 04-06-2011 02:14 PM

I picked "A" only because i don't care for loud outlandish looking rifles. i am going to camo my own, VIA spraying it. have been researching it a lot lately. Ray

Omega45 04-06-2011 02:53 PM

I have been thinking of updating my regular Triumph to a Bone Collector. Can you see if the Big Dipper has this one in stock. :D

Muley Hunter 04-06-2011 02:58 PM

Errr...it's not supposed to be collecting human bones. :p

I have seen that pattern on another camo dipping site. wonder what it looks like on a rifle? Ray

Omega45 04-06-2011 03:22 PM

Its not one I would really put on one of mine but I bet it would be interesting to actually see. There is just soooo many available patterns available to have your gun dipped in.

builder459 04-06-2011 03:25 PM

check these out, i actually like both of them.one is zombie and the other is a skull pattern.http://forum.pafoa.org/general-2/314...d.php?t=712313

Muley Hunter 04-06-2011 03:26 PM

How about curly maple?

flounder33 04-06-2011 03:57 PM

I went with D but they are all nice.

mountaineer magic 04-06-2011 04:02 PM

I like A because it isn't as terrain or season specific.

He does not stock that pattern, although I have seen it before but it is supplied by a different company than Big Dippers wholesales from...

Art, I have 2 or 3 of my stocks down in that one - I really do like it and it will be hard to change but I am just testing the waters...

And this is WTP-266G - the green version..

Breechplug 04-06-2011 05:48 PM

Are any of the Patterns a (Snow Camo)? I cant really tell from the Pics. Im more into a Snow Camo Pattern for My MLers as our Late ML Season is usually always Snow and Cold. That would be My Choice, but for you I'd go with what you like the best as it'll be on your Mler not mine.

Breechplug 04-06-2011 05:50 PM

I like the Camo Pattern on the MLer Pictured with the Ultimate Slam Scope on it, that looks Nice!

The WTP-266 either B (brown) or G (green) is a Winter Mimicry Snow camo...

I'm not much of a camo guy myself. To tell you the truth, I thought some of the examples published on MM using Krylon spray paint looked pretty good and would probably go with that before a camo dip.

While those look really nice... I really like mother nature type camo much better...

There is a company that does nothing but mimick the Mouth's natural camo hiding it from natural pedetors....

I'm not a member there, and can't read the posts. I did look on the main page and say most of the names here. Do you guys just repeat all the same threads there.

I'm on 30 forums. I'm not sure I need another one. It cuts into my beauty sleep.

Semisane 04-06-2011 06:26 PM

I wonder if I could get one to match my mixed Catahoula hound?

Gm54-120 04-06-2011 06:28 PM

The tan spider web with the checkering in black does look good on a non TH Knight stock. I like the camo better on the THs for some reason.

I voted A since there were 2 As. :D

You should be able to. I have several stocks that match my black lab.

50calty 04-06-2011 07:36 PM

How about being plain and just doing a wood stock? lol. I like camo and voted for B.

Muley Hunter 04-06-2011 07:42 PM

You know. Camo came out in the military to fool humans.

Animals can see you SS barrels.

A wood stock doesn't blend in with the woods??????????

Zinger! Excellent Flounder. :party0005:

grizzly 2 04-06-2011 08:21 PM

Deer are actually getting alot smarter. When you see the herd blow out of the field, it's really because the hunter was using a plain black stock and one of the deer yelled, snorted, whatever, "He's got a gun !!!"

Actually, I've always liked the original all purpose grey, and A looks to be pretty close to that. But if I ever do one, it will probably be a fancy wood pattern. Actually though, since I hunt alone mostly, I'd be a little afraid to have an all camo rifle. I'd probably loose my bow at a 3d shoot if I didnt have someone there to point out where I layed the darn thing.

SuperKirby 04-07-2011 05:42 AM

I'm kind of torn. I think for looks in general I might like B a little better, but since I just put a Mothwing Winter Mimicry (D) furniture kit on my AR I had to vote D. I've been thinking a Pro Hunter that matched the AR would sure look nice... How much did you say he charges to do a stock?

$85 + shipping from Lewiston, ID

The Winter Mimicry is easily my favorite right now, I was just thinking of trying something different... I also use the Next Gen Vista pattern which I also like....

The bottom one on this picture....

Muley Hunter 04-07-2011 06:39 AM

This reminds me of fly fishing. 90% of the flies on the market attract the fisherman much more than the fish.

The camo effect is really not for the deer or even the elk - the can not see it anyway, the camo just breaks up the out line of the stock a bit. Heck, I am still using a stainless barrel most people would suggest they would see that first anyway. What they see or react to is movement - they do not much care what color it is...

The camo is for me... it makes me think the gun looks a whole better when I show another human being... The side effects are what it helps me do while hunting.

Muley Hunter 04-07-2011 06:46 AM

Sabot.......You don't like the looks of a fancy grained wood stock?

I just can't get into camo. It looks too military. I'm not going to war. I'm going hunting.

At one time... i was really big on wood stocks - they were really important to me and I took care of them like trophies... But hunting in Idaho and the elevations you are at in Colorado took its toll on the wood stocks...

Maybe 15 years ago the advantageous of the composite stocks really turned me around. They are just more rugged, more stabile, and more functional in rotten weather.

Today right now if you were to look - the only thing that has woods stocks in my collection are Rim Fires, a few really old rifles, and a couple of Varmint guns....

But like staying at a Howard Johnson's... the last gun I bought does have a wood stock....

Muley Hunter 04-07-2011 07:01 AM

I will agree that the weather here is tough on wood. I have the most fancy grade maple on my Hawken, but I pick and choose when I use the gun.

I just bought the plain black tupperware for the Omega, because it's my workhorse that goes out in any weather. It's an ugly gun, but she sure shoots good.

Ifn you bought the non-thumbhole black composite for the Omega you might want to do a little work to the stock... The lug pockets are fairly shallow and can be cracked from recoil + the forearm is fairly flexible if you might lean over a branch or something for support on a shot while hunting... the forearm can move into the barrel and cange POI a bit. Not a problem if you keep the support back toward the lug screws....

Just make sure the barrel is floating when you mount the barreled action.. tighten the rear screw first...
