My biggest complaint wasn't the size of the granules but that there was almost no uniformity in the shape/size.
I am thinking back to my teaching History days... and f I remember correctly, when the colonists were making their own BP, which really wasn't that bad of a powder. Certainly not the quality of the English. The powder 'leafs' were broken by hand to be of the consistency that was close to what they were looking for. Can not imagine that to be like modern powder granuals of today.

Like you I am really not expecting much - but i owe it to myself to find out... because I keep thinking.... what if????

I can't imagine any BP sub being better than a smokeless powder in disguise. (BH 209)

Personally, i'm not looking anymore. I'm more than happy with BH 209 for my inline hunting.

For my sidelocks. I wouldn't shoot anything but real BP.

I hope the new APP works out for you guys.

So if I look at this way....

If during the year i shoot 8# of T7-2f and 3f powder in my inlines and percussion guns that would cost me about $160....

If I move that to BH and buy enough BH to equal 8#'s of T7 that would be about 12.8 bottles of BH @ $30 for a cost of $384

Now if I can get the velocity performance of T7 or Bh from another source at or near the $160 mark - I really need to look. Still not sure I would make the switch because T7 works so well for me - but I gotta look.

I am cheap and cost driven....

But it still contains potassium and sulpher - small amounts as compared to the other subs but some

That's a fact.

BH 209 has sulfur? I sure don't smell it.

All I smell is ammonia.

Of course shooting 8# of BH would be expensive. That's why I just use it for hunting.

I shoot 2 cases of BP a year. If it costs as much as BH I could never do it.

If there was no BP available anymore. I'd shoot Pyrodex. It's the cheapest powder you can shoot, because it's light. You get more loads per pound. Plus it's dirty and stinky. All sidelocks should be stinky and dirty.

Pyrodex and 777 worked very well for me for many years. Pinnacle has killed 10-15 deer and many dozens of hogs for me; it works for me.

i don't see any advantage to using BH 209 and will not be buying any of the expensive stuff.

The biggest advantage for me is no crud ring.

I refuse to swab during hunting.

It's no matter if you say you don't get them. I get them in inlines with every powder except BH 209.

1lb of BH 209 will last me at least 3 years hunting. A few dollars more is a moot point.

it contains some corrosive properties, nothing like pyrodex or 777 for that matter.

Mike, it's worth a shot to try it out. it's cheap enough and if one doesn't like it. they can find some way to make use of it.. i look forward to a review by members on this super duper powder. Ray

I do not run patches while hunting either...
