If they ever get their 45cals for sale i will try some. I dont have much interest in full bore 50cals atm. I would rather shoot them in my 54cals with a 54x50 sabot. Plus atm my only 50cal is my Savage and it has better options.

Stick with saboted bullets for best accuracy. I tried the new Powerbelt Aerolite 250's in my Omega and my 100yd target looked like it was hit with buckshot.

Just curious were the sabots supplied with the gun red or black? If black did they have ridges in the cup? I cannot remember which sabots came with my boys Triumph.

The sabots are black, and they have the ridges.

Then they are MMP and probably HPH-24

Still learning sabots. Translate that please?

I asked Omega45 this question, but another opinion won't hurt.

Knowing those TC Shockwaves with that sabot work in my barrel. How do you think the Barnes T-EZ will fit?

MMP makes 3 HPH sabots actually 4 but they do not advertise it that way.

This list shows the sabot name/number from thinnest (walls) to thickest. All of them are black

HPH-3p-EZ-Load -> comparable to a Harvester 4550CR
HPH-24 -> comparable to Harvester 4550LB and 4550SB
HPH-12
Short Black - Thickest sabot.

Here is a pic that shows the different sabot thicknesses....

I am not a Barnes fan so I do not use them at all. I am not a good source of information in that department. But this link might help...

Hope some of this does help...

I just bought an Omega too. I don't see any sense in starting another thread on the same subject. Hope you don't mind Redneck?

In the past I used mostly traditional muzzleloaders. (Hawkens). I did try a couple of CVA inlines, but not for long. I wanted to try a TC, and I like the Omega. It's so hard to get a ML tag in my area of Colorado i've settled on just shooting the rifle season with a ML. This way I can scope it and use sabots.

I have no experience with sabots, so i'm sort of lost. I did know buying the gun that it would have a tight bore. My plan was to use the Barnes T-EZ bullets and sabots. I do love the performance of the all copper bullet. After reading a lot on this forum on sabots in the Omega i'm thinking i'll have a hard time loading the Barnes. Is that right? I have a Gift Card for BPS, and I was planning on getting them there to use up the card. My local gun shop doesn't stock any sabots, because of not being legal here during ML season, but he can order most anything for me. I just hate ordering and spending money on ammo that doesn't work.

Should I lap the bore with JB Bore Conditioner before even trying any sabots? I'm more of a hunter than someone who loves to shoot at the range. I know I need to put in my time at the range, but if i can at least start with a combination that has a chance to work i'll be happy.

I'd like to stay at 250 gr for a bullet. Maybe some links for where I can buy what you suggest?

Thanks in advance.

the TEZ barnes bullets come with a blue sabot and should load without any problems in your rifle. they load great in my T/C triumph. barnes are excellent bullets just a little pricey.. Ray

I would recommend saving that pic of the sabot ODs for future reference. Some of them are rebranded and are a different color but otherwise the same sabot.

Such as the 3P EZ from MMP is black and from Hornady is a red "Low Drag". Knight EZ load Orange is a MMP HPH-24 if its a 4 petal flat base i think.

Was that in the omega that you cut the QLA off?
