Chronoing the 250 and 300 Aerolites
Just finished up Chroning the Aerolites in the Optima.
300gr Aerolite - 100gr blackhorn209, cci 209m primers
1840 - 1839 - 1831 = 1831 Avgerage. I think i got that right, left the paper outside while i reload for the Accura this time around.
Optima with the same load but with the 250gr Aerolites:
1914 - 1925 - 1889. I think the plugs flash channel was starting to get closed up.
Going out now with the 250s in the V2 with 110gr BH209 and we'll clean the flash channel out between shots to keep pressures consistent this time around.

after shooting the Accura V2, the lower velocity is caused by the flash channel clogging up.
First shot on a bore that had 10 shots through it from yesterday and a non cleaned Flash channel shot 1997 FPS, Second shot with the channel cleaned, 2050, Next shot with it cleaned again was 2075. The 110gr BH209 load with the 250's ended up with a 32 FPS spread so i will have to tinker with some loads in that rifle. Avg velocity was 2041.

the 110gr 250 will group 1 1/2" @ 100 in my brothers hand. The 300's with the 120gr charge group about the same.
Info on both rifles from today
Started with the CVA Optima .50cal and the 250gr Aerolites with 100gr Blackhorn209, CCI 209M primers. Did not clean flash channel during the testing. First shot from clean bore.
1914
1925
1889 - Average velocity 1909 FPS.
Moving to the 300gr Aerlite with the same charge and primer and again, no cleaning the flash channel.
1840
1839
1831
----------------------
Accura V2, 100gr Blackhorn209, 250gr Aerolite, dirty bore from previous day of shooting ( 10 shots total) No cleaning of the breech plug flash hole on shot #1
1997
2050 " with clean flash channel"
2075 " with clean flash channel"
Average FPS 2041 fps.
Only a spread of 32 feet per second.
Doing it again tomorrow but with a fully clean V2 and a clean flash channel.
The 300's will also get their turn in the V2 but with 120gr Blackhorn209 as thats what the rifle likes best. Powder pig!

the Optima's QRBP runs a 5/32 flash channel and the Accura V2 an 1/8" hole. I will just clean the flash channel between shots to keep everything consistent.
I even weighted the loads for tomorrow just to make sure everything is right.
