Speer
At the shop where I bought the XTP's today the owner had some .451 Speer bullets that came in a plastic yellow box of 100 that looks exactly like the box TC round balls come in. It didn't say Deep Curl or Gold Dot or anything but Speer on the box. The bullets looked similar to the XTP. Does anyone know what kind of Speer bullets they are? He said they don't sell so I might be able to get them at a reduced price.

Sounds like old stock pluckit and may be the pre-Gold Dot bonded bullets. What weight were they? Is there a four digit product number on the box?

The old .451 Speers were called Jacketed Hollow Points. They are constructed basically the same as an XTP. You did not say what weight they were but this link might be what they are... http://www.speer-bullets.com/ballist...il.aspx?id=208 |
I think even Speer used numbers to designate there model of Bullet. If you could have gotten this number of the box someone would be able to look it up for you.

I think they were 245 gr.

To me that is a little too much for those bullets. I have some old Speer Gold Dots and I think (don't quote me) that I was paying $13.00 for a yellow box.

PLUCKIT
4469 is a 225 gr bullet. can't find a 4479. Check the number on that box when you go back.I don't know what that type of bullet cost where anyone else lives, but, that sounds like a fair price to me.I give 20 to 25 dollars for a box of 100 of that type bullet in 230gr. |
