Default target from the range

I made it to the range after work today. I didn't have much time before dark. I took the .54 Renegade with the new GM .50 Cal. LRH Carbine on it to sight it in. Open sights. She didn't like round balls but they got me on paper. And were fun to shoot. This is a picture of the target using 80 grains FFF Goex and a 245 grain Aerotip Powerbelt. The last shot at the bottom of the target surprized the heck out of me. I ran the target out to 100 yards for one last shot just for kicks. It was hard for me to believe I even hit the paper at 100 yards with open sights let alone almost dead center. OK, the shot was a little low, but she sure shoots strait.

Good shooting! get you some XTP's or gold dots .250.those PB's are expensive bottom of the barrel bullets.

Way to go pluckit! I've often said that had I discovered GM's LRH barrels for the Renegade and Hawken sooner I might never have owned an in-line. Those suckers flat out shoot.

That's real fine iron sight shooting, especially with the short sight radius of that carbine barrel.

Now don't you go to the dark side by putting a scope on that thing. No, no - don't put a light, compact 4X scope on that barrel so you can see game in very low light conditions. It would be a sin for sure.

I'm going to try to get back out tomorrow morning and raise the POI at 50 yards to about 2 inches high and do some more 100 yard shooting. I have a few TC 240 gr. XTP's so maybe I'll try them.

nice shooting. My carbine barrel likes them 250 grain XTPs with 85 grains of black powder (mine is a flintlock GMB).

Semisane, it's a good thing the barrel has fiber optic sights or else I don't think I would be able to focus on them at all. I just might have to scope it eventually. Where would I get a scope base for it?

The last base I got came from Deer Creek Products (a few years ago). I don't know if they are still around.
