Just for something to do since I didn't muster the will to drive an hour to the range today I thought I would post the round ball sight in target for the GM .50 from yesterday. In case you're wondering, the first of the 2 numbers by the hole is the shot group after cleaning the barrel. The second number is the number of the shot or shots fired after cleaning the barrel. So a 3-2 would be the third time I cleaned the barrel and the second shot taken after cleaning it.I only have a few XTP's so I think I'll try to find some today. It seems I cut the target range off with the camera. The range was 25 yards using 80 gr. fff goex and a patched round ball of course. I don't know what the thickness of the patch was. They are like over 15 years old.

Good shooting! get you some XTP's or gold dots .250.those PB's are expensive bottom of the barrel bullets.
There should be enough here to get me sighted in with them.Wow! I'm getting better. That looks like a pretty good picture. Now if I could figure out how to reduce the size of the picture. |
Be careful of old patches. They can really play havoc with accuracy. One reason I start with new cloth and cut from the muzzle. You want a stink, take an old lubed patch and put that in a sealed container and forget about it for a year. It turns black and don't open that lid. The stink will knock a buzzard off a ... well you know.
Those XTPs should shoot well with 85 grains of powder.. |
