Shucks bronko, I can get some of that fresh clear stuff up around my hunting lease. It's ain't "sipping wiskey" but's pretty good in a pinch and great for priming the diesel tractor.

It should be a fun rifle. I had the flinter before but wasnt happy with it. I'll have much better use with the percussion. Take the winter and just do a slow restoration and get her where i want it to be.
What didn't ya like about the GPR flinchlock???

Kept having issues with flints not wanting to spark. I used agate, arkansas flints, english flints, maybe 6 shots before it'd stop sparking. That and the fact that a flintlock for me is hard to shoot due to the drive to buy the Goex.

I have one flinter left but mainly sticking with sidelocks. Easier to get powder for them

I don't own one yet but I have thought about it. Getting Goex is no problem here but I am surprised at the problems with the flints. I hope that percussion is a good shooter for you.

My .54 GPR flinter is a great sparker and will typically get anything from 30 to 80 shots from a flint. I've had a few go more than that and a few that lasted only a few shots and broke because of some flaw in the rock. Either way, they usually need a light knaping every fifteen or twenty shots for best performance.

I use either black English flints or Rich Pierce's white ones. There's a learning curve in positioning the flint the way your lock likes them, and checking every few shots to make sure the flint is still tight in the c0ck.
