I've been looking at a Knight DISC 45 cal which is at a local pawn shop. It's been there forever with a asking price of $250. It comes with a TC Scope.
I know nothing about the DISC other than what I read here. The bolt seems to be tight to a point you can't open the action. Is there a lever or switch that must be thrown to open the action or is it just locked up? I'm interested but don't want to buy something that's junk. What else should I look for and any ideas what it's worth. What tools do I need to look at the barrel and pull the breech plug?
On the outside it looks pretty clean.
Thanks,
JSO

Question... will the bolt handle lift up? If it will do that but will not pull back it is the older DISC that uses Orange plastic jackets. There is a black set screw on the left side of the receiver you have to take out to get the bolt out. The stock might also have a prominant Monte Carlo rise and then a drop down to the recoil pad.
It is stainless or blued?
Tools... the same allen wrench that fits the bolt screw will fit the lug screw under the gun. To pull the breech plug, there is a Knight tool, but you can use a 7/16 socket, long extension, and ratchcet - be care not to damage the trigger sear.
To take the bolt apart if it is the older bolt you will need a Knight 'C' or a 7/16" open end wrench can substitute.
If it has open sights on it or the place to put them then it is an Extreme - no sights or place for them then it is an Elite.
This should get you started....

The Knight Discs are not junk...I bought a new one about 10 years ago in 50 caliber and love it...I currently have 5 different loadings that it shoots under an inch and a quarter at 100 yards...If it's in good shape and you want a .45, buy it...

Thanks fellas.
I went to the local gun show this morining and bought a never fired 45 DISC Elite. I paid $200 which I think is a pretty good deal based on what I've seen. Now I need to figure how to work the thing as I don't have a manual.
Does the Elite use the red jackets?
Any other tips?
Thanks,

Awesome rifle and built for years of service. IMO it is one of the finest deer rifles ever built and will shoot some heavy conicals sub MOA also.
Ive only seen 2 new ones sold cheaper and i made sure both got a good home. Get a Lehigh NFPJ conversion for just under $40 and you will be in love with any powder you choose.

Here you go. Pics of new Elite.
OK, this is my first try at posting an image. The best I could do was post the links to my new Photobucket account. Clearly I have some work to do if I'm going to make a habit of this.
